Family Steps

A Weekend Retreat for Families

Family Steps is a weekend retreat for families with children and teens who need help with family relationship and communication problems. This retreat is open to traditional families, as well as grandfamilies, relative caregivers, step-families, blended and adoptive families.

Facing a more serious crisis?  Read about Next Step, Bethel’s crisis housing program for parents 18 and over with children, or learn more about residential programs for children and teens.

The retreat is held in a large welcoming home on our beautiful Hixson campus, two weekends per month. The retreat begins with dinner on Friday and ends by noon on Sunday.

The weekend will focus on your family’s specific challenges. Some common topics we can address:

— How do we improve our family relationships?

— What do we do if a teen is out of control?

— Do you have Biblical help for families?

— How can we communicate better as a family

— How can we understand and relate to our teenagers?

— What strategies can we use to cope with a family crisis?

— How do we blend step-families when we are remarried?

— How do we raise our kids as Christians in today’s world?

— Over the course of the weekend, Family Steps facilitators use a Christ-centered approach to help your family understand the root causes of conflict or communication problems in your home.

This weekend also provides a welcome break from the daily challenges that are disrupting family life, with fun activities everyone will enjoy.

The cost for the weekend is $575 per family and includes:

— Lodging on Friday and Saturday nights for all family members

— All meals and snacks throughout the weekend

— Linens and towels

— All program materials

— Intensive family workshops and breakout activities

— Fun family activities throughout the weekend
