Director of Human Resources – Part Time

Since 1954 Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes on our Hixson campus. Bethel offers healing and hope to children and teens who have faced a life-changing crisis, or whose families have been impacted by crisis. We are currently seeking a part-time Director of Human Resources to work approximately 18 – 24 hours per week.

Essential Functions:

  • Protects the credibility of the Bethel Bible Village mission by complying with the Bethel Bible Village Standard of Conduct and Employee Covenant, setting an example, in words and actions that is consistent with the values and beliefs of Bethel Bible Village; exemplifies a vibrant Christian faith personally and professionally.
  • Policy Administration: administers human resources plans and procedures for Ministry personnel.
  • Recruiting/Staffing: conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Employee Relations: works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention; handles employee relations counseling.
  • Payroll: maintains payroll information and processes payroll.
  • Performance Management: monitors the performance evaluation process as necessary.
  • Benefits Administration: performs benefit administration to include resolution of benefit issues; change reporting including enrolling and terming benefits; communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Employment Law Compliance: maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Background Checks: performs background checks for employment candidates.
  • Training: conducts employee benefits and policies training as requested.
  • Records Management: maintains human resources files and records.
  • Consulting: recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Minimum Requirements:

Spiritual: Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; 5+ years’ experience in human resources required. Payroll experience a plus. Non-profit experience a plus.

Specific Skills/Requirements: Possesses knowledge and experience in human resources and personnel administration. Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and previous computer experience required. Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage multiple projects.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Human Resources function. Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.

High School Spanish Teacher – Part-Time

Bethel Bible Village is a faith-based residential home for children of families in crisis.  Located on the Bethel Bible Village campus in Hixson, TN, Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) is a non-public Christian college preparatory school, providing a smaller classroom environment.

We are currently seeking a part-time high school Spanish teacher to teach one block 1.5-2 hours/day 5 days/week for the 2021-2022 academic year. This position will teach Spanish I first semester and Spanish II second semester.

Qualifications:

  • Spiritual:  Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.
  • Education:  Related bachelor’s degree required.
  • Specific Skills:   Must be fluent in Spanish. Experience working with youth who may have academic and behavioral concerns preferred.  Excellent classroom management skills required.  Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and previous computer experience required.
  • License:  Current license or preparation to obtain license in TN required.  Must have a valid driver’s license.

Thrift Store Retail Associate – Part Time

Bethel Bible Village is a faith-based residential home for school-age children of families in crisis located in Hixson, TN.  We have a part-time position available to serve within the Bethel Thrift Store.

This role assists customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains the cash register; sorts and prices donated items; and maintains store cleanliness and safety.  There is a clothing allowance for this position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

SPIRITUAL:  Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.

EDUCATION:   High School diploma required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  One year of previous sales and/or retail experience required.  Excellent customer service skills required.  Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required.  Must have the ability to sort items according to guidelines, be able to follow instructions, and work independently.  The ability to operate a cash register including performing routine mathematical computations and counting change is required.  Must be able to lift 40 pounds.  A candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., and successfully pass a background check, drug screen and physical.

Female House Parent – Full Time

Female House Parent

Since 1954 Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes on our Hixson campus. Bethel offers healing and hope to children and teens who have faced a life-changing crisis, or whose families have been impacted by crisis.

We are currently seeking a youth care worker to serve as a full-time missionary in a cottage of young women who are typically ages 14-17. The position responsibilities are to provide direct care in a residential home for up to 8 girls. This live-in position is responsible for providing spiritual leadership, a positive social and moral example, encouraging the physical and social development of the youth, and contributing to the youths’ all-around progress toward their individual goals.

Qualifications:

  • Spiritual: Display a dynamic personal faith and be an active participating Christian in a local congregation with a commitment to Bethel Bible Village’s Code of Conduct and Employee Covenant
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • Specific Skills: Minimum one year of youth related experience required – educating, coaching, or working with school-aged children. Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required. Previous computer experience preferred.
  • License: Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Other Requirements: Minimum age requirement for this position is 25 years of age. Applicant must be lawfully authorized to work in the U.S., and successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
