Director of Human Resources

Since 1954 Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes on our Hixson campus.  Bethel offers healing and hope to children and teens who have faced a life-changing crisis, or whose families have been impacted by crisis.  We are currently seeking a part-time Director of Human Resources to work approximately 18 – 24 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

— Protects the credibility of the Bethel Bible Village mission by complying with the Bethel Bible Village Standard of Conduct and Employee Covenant, setting an example, in words and actions that is consistent with the values and beliefs of Bethel Bible Village; exemplifies a vibrant Christian faith personally and professionally.

— Policy Administration: Administers human resources plans and procedures for Ministry personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.

— Recruiting/Staffing: Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt employees; handles hiring procedures and maintains applicant records; writes and places job postings; administers new hire process ensuring compliance with state licensing requirements; conducts new hire orientation and onboarding.

— Employee Relations: Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention; handles employee relations counseling; disciplinary actions including disciplinary documentation; coordinates effective, thorough, and objective investigations; conducts exit interviews.

— Payroll: Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data; processes payroll.

— Performance Management: Monitors the performance evaluation process as necessary.

— Benefits Administration: Performs benefit administration to include resolution of benefit issues; change reporting including enrolling and terming benefits; Communicating benefit information to employees.

— Employment Law Compliance: Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment including completion of I-9 process, coordination of FMLA (leave), workers comp, and unemployment claims; attends seminars and webinars to stay current with regulations; partners with legal resources as needed/required.

— Background Checks: Performs background checks for employment candidates, volunteer resource parents, and Next Step candidates.

— Training: Assists with compiling training manuals for new hires.  Conducts employee benefits and policies training as requested.

— Records Management: Maintains human resources files and records.

— Consulting: Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

— Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Spiritual:  Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; 5+ years’ experience in human resources required.  Payroll experience a plus.  Non-profit experience a plus.

Specific Skills/Requirements:  Possesses knowledge and experience in human resources and personnel administration.  Effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and previous computer experience required.  Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and manage multiple projects.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:  Considerable knowledge and understanding of the Human Resources function.  Human Resources certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.  Must have a valid driver’s license.

Female House Parent 

Since 1954 Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes on our Hixson campus.  Bethel offers healing and hope to children and teens who have faced a life-changing crisis, or whose families have been impacted by crisis.  Children ages 5 – 17, families, teen moms and their babies, are referred to Bethel by school counselors, partnering agencies and juvenile courts.  Our middle and high school residents attend school on our campus at Bethel Christian Academy.

We are currently seeking an assistant youth care worker to serve on a part-time basis in our programs, including the teen mom program.  Your role will be teaching these youth life skills, and to inspire their physical, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional development.  You will also be assisting with the care of babies.

Qualifications:

Spiritual: Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation with a commitment to Bethel Bible Village’s Code of Conduct and Employee Covenant

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred

Specific Skills: One year of youth related experience required – educating, coaching, or working with school-aged children.  Experience working with teens, infants, and toddlers is preferred.  Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills required.  Previous computer experience preferred.

License: Must have a valid driver’s license

Full-Time Teacher

Since 1954 Bethel Bible Village has provided safe, nurturing and Christ-centered homes for children of families in crisis.  Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) is a small, non-public Christian college preparatory school, providing a smaller classroom environment for students who have fallen behind and may need smaller classes. We serve primarily the 6 – 12 grade students who live at Bethel Bible Village and the school is located on campus.

Bethel currently has available a full-time teaching position for middle school and some high school courses.

Qualifications:

Spiritual:  Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.

Education/Licenses:  Bachelor’s degree and current Tennessee high school teaching license required.

Specific Skills:   Experience working with youth who may have academic and behavioral concerns preferred; flexibility to teach remedial and non-remedial courses.  Excellent classroom management skills required.  Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and previous computer experience required.  Experience working in the field of special education is preferred.

Support Services Assistant

Bethel Bible Village is a faith-based residential home for children of families in crisis.  We are currently seeking a fulltime Support Services Assistant.  This position provides assistance to the Director of Support Services in the general upkeep and maintenance of all Bethel physical facilities and related campus grounds, buildings, and equipment. Duties will include performing grounds keeper duties including cutting, trimming, and landscaping; providing maintenance and upkeep of all buildings; maintaining service, maintenance, and repair of all Bethel vehicles including mowers and tractors; setting up for all special events; and supporting the Information Technology function for Bethel.

Qualifications:

Spiritual: Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Specific Skills: Basic knowledge of grounds keeping, light mechanics, and maintenance.  Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills are required.  Previous computer experience required.

License: Valid driver’s license required

Thrift Store Retail Associate

Bethel Bible Village is a faith-based residential home for school-age children of families in crisis located in Hixson, TN.  We have a part-time position available to serve in our Thrift Store.   Work hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

This role assists customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains the cash register; sorts and prices donated items; and maintains store cleanliness and safety.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

SPIRITUAL:  Be an active participating Christian in a local congregation.

EDUCATION:   High School diploma required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  One year of previous sales and/or retail experience required.  Excellent customer service skills required.  Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required.  Must have the ability to sort items according to guidelines, be able to follow instructions, and work independently.  The ability to operate a cash register including performing routine mathematical computations and counting change is required.  Must be able to lift 40 pounds.  A candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., and successfully pass a background check, drug screen and physical.
