Due largely to the opioid epidemic, the number of grandparents raising grandchildren is a growing trend here in Chattanooga and across the nation. Often called “grandfamilies,” these family arrangements offer both benefits and challenges to relative caregivers. 

Many families are not prepared for the emotional and behavioral issues that children can face after being separated from their parents.
