Bethel staff will help you at every step of the application process.
Step 1. The first step is to complete and submit the Next Step application and provide the additional documents requested, including:
— Background Check information
— Reference and Financial Forms
— Custody Order (for any children under 18 in the family if custody is not with birth parents)
Step 2. Bethel will review your application and materials and if the program seems alike the right fit, we will schedule a meeting with your family on our campus in Hixson, TN. This meeting with Bethel staff may include your children, parents or guardians, as needed.
At this meeting, Bethel will find out more about your family’s needs and your family can learn more about the Next Step Program.
Step 3: If you are encouraged to continue the process after the meeting, you will need to provide the following documents:
— A copy of medical insurance cards (if your family has health insurance)
— A copy of Driver’s Licenses for adults in the household (or a state ID for any adults not driving)
— A copy of current vehicle registration and insurance
— Written description of your child care plan o Written description of your transportation plan
— Statement of good health from a medical provider for each individual in the household to document that each individual appears to be free of contagious illnesses.
Step 4: Bethel staff will make a tentative decision about acceptance into the program and communicate this to you. This decision will be confirmed once the adults in your family have successfully passed fingerprint background checks.
If we find that Bethel’s Next Step program is the appropriate placement for your family and there is an open house, we will arrange a date for the family to start in the program.
If there are no open houses, your family will go onto a waiting list and you will be notified when a house is available.
Step 5: If your family is approved and you have a date to move in, you will need to sign a Next Step Program Contract, turn your $250 deposit and sign the Financial Agreement.
