If you’re looking to get out in the fresh air and have some fun for a good cause, Bethel Bible Village has the perfect venue for you this Wednesday evening.
January 13 from 5 PM to 9 PM is Charity Skate Night for Bethel at Ice on the Landing, which is located behind the Chattanooga Choo Choo on Market St.
Ice on the Landing will donate 20% of the proceeds from the evening to Bethel, which is a Godsend in this difficult year, according to Bethel President and CEO Rosalind Connor.
“Due to the pandemic, so many children are dealing with trauma and crisis right now,” Rosalind notes. “And many are experiencing learning loss as they fall behind in their education. As you can imagine, the need for the help Bethel can provide has never been greater.”
Bethel’s middle and high school, Bethel Christian Academy, uses small classes and a customized curriculum to help students catch up on their studies, even if they are behind by two years or more.
“The pandemic alone has had a significant impact on many students,” Rosalind adds. “But many youth who fall very behind in school also have experienced childhood trauma or a family crisis. That’s why all of our school staff are trained in trauma-informed care.”
“Students who have suffered trauma often struggle with emotional and behavioral issues that can stand in the way of their academic success,” Rosalind explains. “Bethel places a circle of care around each student so they can work through these issues in a safe and supportive environment.”
Anyone who skates on Charity Night will support this important cause. For more information about Bethel and the services available to students and youth in crisis, visit bethelbiblevillage.org. For information about Charity Skate Night for Bethel visit iceonthelanding.com.
