Bethel Receives 13 Major Appliances
With eight youth in each cottage, new appliances called “a much-needed blessing”
Chattanooga, TN, December 15, 2020 — Bethel Bible Village announced today that it received funding from Truist Financial Corporation as part of its Lighthouse Project program to purchase 13 major household appliances. The Lighthouse Project is a long-standing BB&T now Truist tradition that allows teammates to support local nonprofit organizations on projects to address critical community needs.
The appliances include four washers, four dryers, two refrigerators, a wall oven and a gas range for the residential cottages that house youth overcoming trauma and crisis on Bethel’s 50-acre campus in Hixson.
It’s not a typical kids’ Christmas gift but our kids are excited!
“These are a much-needed blessing,” says Bethel president and CEO Rosalind Connor. “Every time I visit one of our cottages, the washers and dryers are running. With eight youth and two sets of House Parents in each cottage, our old appliances were running on a wing and a prayer!”
In addition, Bethel serves more than 17,000 meals a year, so the new stove and range will receive a lot of use as well.
“These appliances directly benefit the youth in our care,” Rosalind notes. “As part of their life skills training, they do their own laundry and learn how to cook meals. You won’t see many kids smile about doing laundry, but our kids are beaming right now. We’re thankful Truist is a Hero for Hope for our kids.”

It’s just one way we’re fulfilling the Truist purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”
Since 2009, BB&T now Truist teammates have completed more than 12,000 community service projects, serving more than 700,000 volunteer hours and impacting the lives of more than 18 million people. Visit Truist.com to learn more.
